Not all fertilizers are complete. There are soils that need specific nutrients in order to provide the grass a greener color. These plant foods are not readily available in all fertilizers. For example, if the aim is to produce greener grass, a supplement of nitrogen can be applied depending on the soil type of the lawn. So the best way is to identify first the type of soil prior to application of any fertilizer in order to achieve the result you want.
